On the 8th of May We have started our mobility in Zagori, Greece. Each partner introduced themselves and explained their previous Works on sustainability and enviromental projects
We had a tour in Ecomuseum Zagori and we had the oppurtunity to see their previous projects' results on site.
Ecomuseum Zagori invited ....................... high school and they answered our questions about the education in Zagori With the presentations we could learn about the systems and curriculum in other vocational high schools in different countries
We had the lunch at Lena's place that we will learn a lot from this amazing woman about sustainability.
Most of her stuff is self-made or sustainable tools that reduces consumption to the minimum level.
Zagori is a rural area on the top of the beeautiful mountains. Most of the people ranch or work as normads in different areas. Lena showed us how to sustain wools that they found a lot of from trash after the people trimmed animals. She introduced each handmade tools that helps her to make fabrics and clothes from wool.
According to the denseness of the weaving you can produce different types of clothes or fabrics that you can turn into whatever you want. She colors these fabrics with flowers and plants. She doesnt use any chemical on her products. Also in her kitchen she always uses glass jars to keep her food products fresh and healthy. She makes jams, pastes, drinks and foods on her own. She never wastes the products she grows on her garden. They leave some plants to feed animals too. If there is very little product that has gone rotten, they use them for heating.
There are dozens of handmade clothes, pillow and blanket covers also carpets. From rusty watering cans she made aesthetic decorations for her restaurant. Her home and storage were like a showroom for sustainability
On 9th of May 2023 We started our day with Ecomuseum officer Ariana and she talked about and epitomes that we can apply in the automation education in the school. We have learned the difference between linear and circular economy. With all partners we discussed how to popularize and spread circular economy all around the World in every field.
After conference and educational seminar, we walked around Zagori and collected garbages. We seperated them into categories from recyclable to unrecyclable. We bagged plastics, glasses and bottles in different places. We put unrecyclable materials in different place to use them later in modern sculpture activity.
With our waste materials, we visited Recycling & Environmental Park in Ioannina. First we recycled the materials that we collected earlier from the dumpsters. Officers there explained us how the system works and how they spread the awareness all around the region. Thousands of materials are recycled in that facility. Even during our visit, so many local people came to the recycling park with loads of plastic and glass waste materials. The system is approved and supported by The Greek Ministry of Environment & Energy.
Inside the facility, there was a seminar hall. In there we saw videos and information on how plastics and waste materials consume our planet without us noticing and doing something about it. How ecological system is corrupted with those wastes that are thrown into the seas and oceans. In the educational hall we learned how we can contribute to the earth with small steps and effective moves. We have learned that Recycling and educational park hosts different schools and instituations from all around that region to raise awareness on sustainability and cleaning earth from wastes materials.
